If you need a visa:

Admission procedure for international students who need a Russian visa has a number of peculiarities:

  1. If international students have completed the one-year Russian language courses, they can apply to SSMU with their valid visa.
  2. As soon as a student passes their entrance exams they must leave the Russian Federation. Then SSMU will send an invitation letter for a single entry visa (for 90 days).
  3. After receiving the single entry visa, the student has the right to enter the Russian Federation.
  4. When students arrive in Russia they must come to the International Office within 3 working days (Tomsk, 2 Moscovsky trakt, building 18, room 12) and provide the following documents:
    • Passport;
    • Visa;
    • Migration card.
  5. International students must apply for a multiple entry visa within the period of validity of a single entry visa (within 90 days).
  6. The multiple entry visa is issued by Federal Migration Service Department within 20 working days of the receipt of all necessary documents.

    To extend the student visa a foreign citizen is obliged to bring all documents to the International Office no later than 30 working days before a visa expiration date.

Students can be enrolled in the University using the service of recruiting agents.

Russian Language Requirements:

Knowledge of Russian sufficient for attending lectures and writing papers. It is possible to take a preparatory 1-year Russian language course at Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building or Tomsk Polytechnic University or any other accredited preparatory language courses.

The Validation or recognition of foreign studies and degrees is the process whereby a competent authority in one country formally recognizes the value of a qualification from a foreign country.

Required documents:

  • Application;
  • The original of the document on foreign education with the academic transcript;
  • Certified by notary translation of the document on foreign education with the academic transcript;
  • Copy of the document certifying the identity of the holder of foreign education;
  • Certified by notary translation of the document certifying the identity of the holder of foreign education.  

Cost of service:

  • Certificates of recognition of foreign education and (or) foreign qualification - 6 500 rubles;
  • Duplicate of the certificate of recognition of foreign education and (or) foreign qualification - 300 rubles.

* Fees paid directly to the authorized organization upon receipt of the invoice.

Submission of documents for the recognition procedure:

ATTENTION:

Duration of the service does not exceed 45 days.

1.  Invitation letter

Invitation to enter the Russian Federation is a document which serves as a basis for issuing a single entry visa to a foreign citizen for entering the Russian Federation for the period no more than 90 days.

Required documents:

  • copy of the first page of the passport (Applicant's passport should be valid six (6) months more after the end of the visit);
  • city of birth;
  • full name and address of the educational institution;
  • full student’s address (country, city, street, number of flat);
  • the exact date of arrival in Russia;
  • full address where we should send the invitation once it is ready (city)

Invitation processing time is 20 working days.

2.  Arrival to Russia

International students must apply for a multiple entry visa within the period of validity of a single entry visa.

When students arrive in Russia they must come to the International Office within 3 working days (Tomsk, 2 Moscovsky trakt, building 18, room 12) and provide the following documents:

  • Passport;
  • Visa;
  • Migration card.

3.  Registration

According to the Russian legislation foreign citizens must be registered at the place of residence stay.

Requireddocuments:

  • Passport;
  • Migration card.

Also the international students are obliged to immediately notify SSMU the Institute for International Research and Education about the change of their address or location and exchange of passport.

ATTENTION: If a foreign student leaves the Russian Federation, the registration is automatically canceled. On arrival to Russia, the foreign student must apply for new registration.

4.  Multiple entry visa

The multiple entry visa is issued by Federal Migration Service Department within 20 working days of the receipt of all necessary documents.

To extend the student visa a foreign citizen is obliged to bring all documents to the Institute for International Research and Education no later than 30 working days before a visa expiration date.

The student must provide the following documents:

  • Passport;
  • Migration card*;
  • Registration;
  • Copy of the Contract;
  • 2 photos (3х4, matte);
  • Receipt for payment of the state duty – 1600 rubles.

*Migration card is identity document for foreign national when they arrive in the Russian Federation.

ATTENTION: The migration card is necessary for extension of a multiple visa and registration at the place of residence. A student must keep a migration card for the entire period of study at the University.

5.  Cancellation of studies

If the international student discontinues studying (regardless of the reason) he/she is obliged to immediately notify SSMU the Institute for International Research and Education.

According to the Russian legislation the foreign student must apply for a transit visa to leave the Russian Federation.

The transit visa processing time is 20 working days.

Required documents:

  • Passport;
  • Migration card;
  • Registration;
  • 1 photo (3х4, matte);
  • Receipt for payment of the state duty – 1000 rubles;
  • Copy of the tickets*.

*The foreign student must settle the date of departure (from the Russian Federation) with SSMU the Institute for International Research and Education and Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tomsk region.

ATTENTION:

The student is considered expelled from the University once the transit visa is ready and the student left Russian Federation.
